REQUIREMENT : MANAGED SERVICES
Interchange & Consort Hotels Ltd chose service provider Blue Chip to support their infrastructure in York and develop a server platform to deliver enhanced business continuity combined with a reduction of their carbon footprint.
>> The Client
Interchange & Consort Hotels Ltd is the name behind the UK's largest hotel brand, Best Western Hotels GB with over 280 individual hotels members. The company also includes Beacon Purchasing one of the country's largest purchasing consortia and its latest venture, InnFutures, a company providing Hotel management and Consultancy services.
After experiencing a drop in the quality of IT support from their existing provider, the management team realised their strong business need for a reliable and superior external support service that would meet their technology requirements.
>> Solution
Recognised by Servicemark® for a commitment to service excellence and high standards of customer service, their IT Helpdesk was searching for a partner that could meet the same levels of service excellence to support their server infrastructure. Blue Chip was selected from a number of applicants to deliver a comprehensive support service including the review of the current server estate; around the clock server monitoring; performance management and strategic advice.
The solution was designed to complement Interchange & Consort Hotels' internal team providing an escalation point for complex issues; day and night coverage of the server estate when staff are not on site; and expert technical advice and opinion.
With the Blue Chip solution in place, Interchange & Consort Hotels now have a set of services to ensure their servers are highly available in line with future business activities and requirements.
>> Success and Company Benefit
Server monitoring and administration, combined with Service Desk support was implemented delivering a 360° view on servers with extended technical support available to the IT Helpdesk. This ensures that any potential server issues are identified and resolved within a minimal timeframe and excellence can be delivered as standard.
Following on from a review of the existing server estate, Interchange & Consort Hotels Ltd is working with Blue Chip on a project to consolidate their servers using virtualisation technologies; delivering reduced power consumption and impact on the environment.
Simon Heafield, IT Manager for Interchange & Consort Hotels Ltd said "Blue Chip showed that they understood our needs and were able to deliver a support service that met our quality standards with a pricing model that provides real value."
