Organixs’ continued growth meant that their IT strategy needed to evolve to meet the changing demands of the business. They turned to leading IT provider Blue Chip to implement cutting edge technologies and to ensure it maintains its market-leading position and high levels of customer service.

Organix is the UK's pioneering organic baby food brand. Since the business started in 1992, the organic baby food market has grown massively and Organix continues to lead the way.
Organix's expansion has placed increased emphasis on the performance, efficiency and reliability of all their technology services. They employed Blue Chip to design and implement a new core IT infrastructure - servers, storage, backup and voice communications; and deliver a managed service that would provide strategic direction and operational support for their staff and systems.
>> Solution
The existing servers were virtualised using VMware's vSphere and storage was centralised with an EMC SAN improving business continuity and reducing on-going operational costs and capital expenditure. The existing PBX telephone system was replaced with a Cisco Unified Communications solution delivering simplified management.
Blue Chip also installed SecureVault, an online backup solution that enabled Organix to move away from their time consuming and costly tape backup. This meant that data is backed-up to an encrypted vault and is readily accessible should the worst happen by logging in remotely and selecting the relevant data for immediate recovery. From a cost perspective, customers only pay for the space they use, making this an attractive option for Organix.
In addition, Organix selected Blue Chip’s Platinum Managed Service to provide the support and strategic direction required. This service includes:
- A technical service desk for full user and technical support
- 24/7 monitoring to deliver full system visibility and uptime
- Weekly system administration to deliver optimal system performance, security and reliability
- Service Management with regular reporting against KPIs, monthly meetings and IT strategy planning

The new technologies have reduced the number of Organix servers by two-thirds and are now helping to reduce their carbon emissions, operating costs and IT management overheads.
In addition, SecureVault has improved the security and reliability of Organix’s backup and disaster recovery process and continues to save the company both time and money with the redundancy of the tape backup drive.
Blue Chip’s Platinum Managed Service is providing IT support, management and strategy that would be cost prohibitive for a small business to deliver internally. In addition, the breadth and depth of the service means that Organix can concentrate on what they do best - making the best, nutritious, healthy and organic baby food.
